Wisdom Teeth Removal in Fenton, MI
Remove Third Molars to Prevent Complications
When your dentist refers you or your child for wisdom teeth removal in Fenton, MI, you want to make sure you see the most qualified professionals for treatment. At Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center, our oral surgeons have years of training and experience removing wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are the final set of adult teeth to grow in your mouth and are also known as your third molars. When your mouth isn’t big enough to hold wisdom teeth, they can cause a host of problems for your oral health.
Without enough room to grow into their proper position, wisdom teeth will grow at an angle, straight towards your healthy teeth. If wisdom teeth are not removed early, they can become impacted, or stuck, beneath the gums and cause damage to nearby teeth. Impacted wisdom teeth are known to cause infection, root damage, tooth misalignment, and even cysts and tumors. Fortunately, early wisdom teeth removal can help you avoid all of these problems.
Consultation Appointment for Wisdom Teeth Removal
Your consultation appointment is the first step in the wisdom teeth removal process. When you come in for your first appointment, your oral surgeon will thoroughly examine your condition before determining your personalized treatment plan. We will review your X-rays and 3D scans as well as your health history to ensure that your treatment is tailored to your specific needs.
Easy, Online Video Consultations
Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center is pleased to offer after-hours online video consultations for patients seeking wisdom teeth removal.
An online video consultation is a virtual consultation that takes place in a HIPAA-compliant video conference setting. It is a safe and convenient way to meet your doctor and care team while you receive important information about your treatment plan, financial details, pre- and post-operative instructions, and more. As an added bonus, an online video consultation allows you to have a consultation at the time and place that is convenient for you. An online video consultation is very similar to an in-person consultation, so you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
While we make every effort to ensure we exceed our patients’ expectations, eligibility of an online video consultation is at the discretion of the practice to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. In general, patients seeking an online video consultation should
- Be between the ages of 14 and 30 years of age
- Be in good health
- Have recent panorex X-rays
- Have a reliable, high-speed internet connection
If you are interested in an online video consultation for wisdom teeth removal, please call our office and ask the front desk.
Wisdom Teeth Removal and Sedation
Patients undergo anesthesia for this procedure for a comfortable surgical experience. Oral surgeons are trained to safely administer all forms of anesthesia.
- The most common form of anesthesia used during wisdom teeth removal is IV anesthesia. This allows patients to rest in a sleep-like state throughout surgery and wake up when it is over.
- We also offer local anesthesia, which is more common for simple dental procedures, such as fillings. Local anesthesia is a numbing agent and helps prevent pain or discomfort at the surgical site.
- Nitrous oxide, typically referred to as laughing gas, is more commonly used before a procedure to help patients calm their nerves. It is usually used in combination with local anesthesia or IV anesthesia.
When you’re in our office for your consultation appointment, your oral surgeon will discuss all of your options for anesthesia with you. We will choose whichever option or options you are most comfortable with.
The Wisdom Teeth Removal Procedure
Your wisdom teeth removal procedure will depend on your needs as a patient. If your wisdom teeth have fully erupted from the gums, they can be removed just like normal teeth. If your wisdom teeth are still in their developing stage or impacted beneath the gums, your procedure will be slightly more complex. Your surgeon will administer the anesthesia and make incisions in the gums to access the teeth. Some teeth may need to be broken into smaller pieces for easier removal. Then, he will open your gums and remove the teeth, sometimes breaking them into small pieces so that removal is easier.

"Well, first off, I went and got my semi-annual dentist checkup, and they said it would be about time to get my wisdom teeth out, so I wanted to get it done before school. So I got my wisdom teeth out, so that way, I'd be ready for the fall semester. It went great; I got them all out — I actually had five wisdom teeth, so I got that extra one, and I didn't really want to keep them, but when I came home, my mom had all five. Oh, it's been really nice working with Dr. Frey. He's a really enjoyable, fun person, and I think that's a big part of the profession — not just to do quality work but also just to communicate and enjoy your experience. His staff is really fun, like just being here today. Just a lot of good energy and a lot of fun people around here. If any of my friends or family needed their wisdom teeth extracted within the Davison, Flint, or Flushing area, I would definitely recommend Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons."

"I was referred to by my grandmother; she had previously had a surgery done by Dr. Frey, and she told me how gentle and kind he was. It was when I had gotten my braces on, and one of my tooth would not come up, and he exposed my tooth and put a bracket on so that it would come up properly. It was really good; he told me everything that he was going to do before he did it, so that made me comfortable. For my wisdom teeth, I had Dr. Lesneski, and he was so friendly. He was just so personable and made himself seem more like your friend, and that helped me out because I was so nervous and I was so scared, but he said, "It's going to be easy, I'm going to take care of you, and we're going to get through this." And I said, "Cool." After I got up, he came and saw my afterwards and said, "You did great. You came through like a champ." I plan on referring all my friends to Dr. Lesneski and Dr. Frey because they're so nice, and they really make sure that you're happy and you're healthy, and they want to make you happy."

"Well, I came to Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons because my dentist recommended that I had to have four wisdom teeth pulled, and of course, when I heard that, I was frightened because my older sister had a horrifying experience, and I was like, "Eh, do I want to come? Do I really want to get this done?" I was not excited about it at all. I was a little nervous, and then I also heard that people had different experiences; some people said it hurt, some people said it didn't. I didn't know what I was going to have. I thought I was going to have a 50/50 chance of it happening, so I really didn't know. But they eased my worries a lot when I came into the door. Well, my procedure was relatively simple. I came in, they gave me some laughing gas, and after that, they stuck the needle in, and after that, I don't remember a thing. And honestly, it was a lot easier than I ever anticipated. It wasn't that bad at all. Dr. Lesneski was probably one of the most approachable doctors I have ever experienced. From the moment I walked in the door to the time in the chair getting my procedure done, one of the best guys I've ever experienced when it comes to getting any kind of dental procedure. They're perfect, and they're wonderful when it comes to treating you and taking care of you."

"I brought my son, Daniel, to get his wisdom teeth extracted. Everything just went really good. Dr. Lesneski—he is great. He really knows what he's doing. He made us feel very comfortable, where we knew that everything was going to go great. The staff is amazing. They were just very comforting. Everything was just great. I would highly recommend Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons."

"I was actually told about four years ago that I needed to get my wisdom teeth out, and I was very afraid to get them out because I had never been put under before. I met Dr. Lesneski, and I felt very comfortable with him. Dr. Lesneski is super funny and kind and really helps calm the nerves. The staff is very friendly and nice. They came in constantly trying to make sure that I wasn't nervous or to see if I needed anything. It was super easy and quick. I would say this is the best place to go because the staff is friendly, and the doctors are great, and they're always willing to help you. If any of my friends or family in Bay City, Saginaw, or Midland needed their wisdom teeth taken out, I would highly recommend Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons."
