Wisdom Teeth Removal in Fenton, MI

Remove Third Molars to Prevent Complications

When your dentist refers you or your child for wisdom teeth removal in Fenton, MI, you want to make sure you see the most qualified professionals for treatment. At Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center, our oral surgeons have years of training and experience removing wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are the final set of adult teeth to grow in your mouth and are also known as your third molars. When your mouth isn’t big enough to hold wisdom teeth, they can cause a host of problems for your oral health.

Without enough room to grow into their proper position, wisdom teeth will grow at an angle, straight towards your healthy teeth. If wisdom teeth are not removed early, they can become impacted, or stuck, beneath the gums and cause damage to nearby teeth. Impacted wisdom teeth are known to cause infection, root damage, tooth misalignment, and even cysts and tumors. Fortunately, early wisdom teeth removal can help you avoid all of these problems.

Consultation Appointment for Wisdom Teeth Removal

Your consultation appointment is the first step in the wisdom teeth removal process. When you come in for your first appointment, your oral surgeon will thoroughly examine your condition before determining your personalized treatment plan. We will review your X-rays and 3D scans as well as your health history to ensure that your treatment is tailored to your specific needs.

Easy, Online Video Consultations

Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center is pleased to offer after-hours online video consultations for patients seeking wisdom teeth removal.

An online video consultation is a virtual consultation that takes place in a HIPAA-compliant video conference setting. It is a safe and convenient way to meet your doctor and care team while you receive important information about your treatment plan, financial details, pre- and post-operative instructions, and more. As an added bonus, an online video consultation allows you to have a consultation at the time and place that is convenient for you. An online video consultation is very similar to an in-person consultation, so you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

While we make every effort to ensure we exceed our patients’ expectations, eligibility of an online video consultation is at the discretion of the practice to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. In general, patients seeking an online video consultation should

  • Be between the ages of 14 and 30 years of age
  • Be in good health
  • Have recent panorex X-rays
  • Have a reliable, high-speed internet connection

If you are interested in an online video consultation for wisdom teeth removal, please call our office and ask the front desk.

Wisdom Teeth Removal and Sedation

Patients undergo anesthesia for this procedure for a comfortable surgical experience. Oral surgeons are trained to safely administer all forms of anesthesia.

  • The most common form of anesthesia used during wisdom teeth removal is IV anesthesia. This allows patients to rest in a sleep-like state throughout surgery and wake up when it is over.
  • We also offer local anesthesia, which is more common for simple dental procedures, such as fillings. Local anesthesia is a numbing agent and helps prevent pain or discomfort at the surgical site.
  • Nitrous oxide, typically referred to as laughing gas, is more commonly used before a procedure to help patients calm their nerves. It is usually used in combination with local anesthesia or IV anesthesia.

When you’re in our office for your consultation appointment, your oral surgeon will discuss all of your options for anesthesia with you. We will choose whichever option or options you are most comfortable with.

The Wisdom Teeth Removal Procedure

Your wisdom teeth removal procedure will depend on your needs as a patient. If your wisdom teeth have fully erupted from the gums, they can be removed just like normal teeth. If your wisdom teeth are still in their developing stage or impacted beneath the gums, your procedure will be slightly more complex. Your surgeon will administer the anesthesia and make incisions in the gums to access the teeth. Some teeth may need to be broken into smaller pieces for easier removal. Then, he will open your gums and remove the teeth, sometimes breaking them into small pieces so that removal is easier.

"When we first walked through the door, we felt comfortable in such a nice environment. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and they made us feel at home. Dr. Kittle is very comfortable to talk to. Easy to ask questions. Cameron’s surgery went well, and it was just overall a great experience. For my friends and family in Lapeer, I highly recommend Dr. Kittle. "

"I came to see Dr. Lesneski to have him extract my daughter's wisdom teeth. It is very nervous anytime your child's put under, as a mom, no matter how old they are. Allie was coming home from college and having it done over Christmas break. I was still nervous as a mom; no matter how old your child is, they're still your child. I will say that Dr. Lesneski and his staff put me at ease. They let me stay with her as long as I needed. I really felt like the process was very quick, and for me, it was pretty painless. The staff was great as far as setting up the appointment (making sure she could do it when she was home for Christmas break), call-backs, setting up the appointments — they all were really great to work with. I really felt like him calling to check on her — I mean, he called, he checked on her after the surgery to make sure she was okay. He called the next day. He personally called, not a staff member. Who would you want to do your kid's surgery? Somebody like that."

"We came to see Dr. Kittle because my daughter needed her wisdom teeth extracted. The team here is really friendly. When we first walked in the front door, they were smiling, and they were happy to see us, and they just made us feel really comfortable the whole time we were here. Dr. Kittle was really friendly, and he made her feel really at ease. He even called us the next day to check on her and see how she was doing. The recovery for my daughter was really quite simple. The next day, you know, she took things pretty slow, but she really healed pretty quickly and pretty easily. Overall, our experience with Dr. Kittle and his staff was amazing. For my friends and family in Midland, I highly recommend Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons."

"I came to see Dr. Lesneski because I needed my wisdom teeth taken out. I just remember going back there, and then I got put under, and I just don't remember a thing after that. I just thought it would hurt — like I could feel it — but you can't feel it at all. Wasn't really in pain; it just took a little bit of time for all the stuff to heal up, and I did. It was fine. It didn't take too long to heal. The staff — they're nice, they smile, they're good to talk to. Dr. Lesneski — I like him, he's a good guy. I can get along with him pretty good. Yeah, I know people in Goodrich, Fenton, and Flint, Michigan, that I would for sure recommend Dr. Lesneski to, to get their wisdom teeth out."

"Well, I went to the dentist, and I got some X-rays done, and since I had braces, they said that my wisdom teeth would be an issue for me, and once I started feeling them poke through my gums that it was time to get them out. Dr. Lesneski was really friendly and inviting when I came in for a consultation. It probably took about five minutes for him to say, "We can schedule you for a wisdom teeth extraction. How does this date sound?" and I was in and out, and he just made me feel really welcome here. It was really quick. I don't remember any of it for hours afterwards, but my mom said it took about 15 total minutes for me to go back there and leave. If anyone in Bridgeport, Midland, or Bay City were looking for an oral surgeon, I would highly recommend Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons to anyone who is looking for an oral surgeon to go to."
