A Comfortable Surgical Experience
At Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center, we understand you may be nervous about an upcoming procedure. We want to provide you with high-quality, compassionate care and put you at ease in our Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Owosso, Oxford, and Midland, MI, offices.
Types of Anesthesia
There are three main types of anesthesia that we use at our practice:
Local
Local anesthetics are applied and injected to numb the area where a procedure will be performed. You will remain awake during the procedure but will not feel pain.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is administered through a nasal breathing apparatus and inhaled. It produces a mild pain-relieving and sedating effect.
IV Sedation
IV sedation allows you to rest comfortably in a semi-conscious state, unaware of the procedure. You will wake up when the sedation wears off, often with no memory of the procedure and without having felt any discomfort.
Anesthesia and Sedation Experts
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons have received a significant amount of additional training in the administration of anesthesia to offer this service in their offices. Each of our surgeons completed a hospital-based surgical residency program that provides them with the highest level of in-office sedation and anesthesia training. This hands-on experience working alongside medical anesthesiologists qualifies them to evaluate their patients for anesthesia, safely deliver the anesthetic, and effectively monitor patients during and after surgery. Our surgical team also undergoes rigorous training and certification to administer anesthesia in a safe and comfortable environment.
