Wisdom Teeth Removal in
Grand Blanc, MI

Remove Third Molars to Prevent Complications

Wisdom teeth are the last molars to grow in the mouth, and wisdom teeth removal in Grand Blanc, MI, is common because the average mouth does not have enough room to house them. Typically, wisdom teeth removal is necessary because wisdom teeth start threatening the health of your other teeth. Without enough space to grow properly, wisdom teeth will grow in at an angle and damage your oral health.

Early wisdom teeth removal is strongly recommended because it prevents wisdom teeth from fully developing. Fully developed wisdom teeth are sometimes harder to removed, and they have typically had enough time to damage nearby tooth roots or cause the growth of infection, cysts, or tumors. If wisdom teeth are removed before development, the procedure and recovery are easier, and you can rest easy knowing your oral health isn’t at risk.

Initial Consultation for Wisdom Teeth Removal

If you choose Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center for wisdom teeth removal, you will first visit our office for a consultation appointment. We will examine your mouth, jaws, and any X-rays or 3D scans to get a good idea of the position of your wisdom teeth and whether or not they pose a threat to your health. Following your examination, your oral surgeon will determine the best course of treatment and develop your personalized treatment plan.

Easy, Online Video Consultations

Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center is pleased to offer after-hours online video consultations for patients seeking wisdom teeth removal.

An online video consultation is a virtual consultation that takes place in a HIPAA-compliant video conference setting. It is a safe and convenient way to meet your doctor and care team while you receive important information about your treatment plan, financial details, pre- and post-operative instructions, and more. As an added bonus, an online video consultation allows you to have a consultation at the time and place that is convenient for you. An online video consultation is very similar to an in-person consultation, so you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

While we make every effort to ensure we exceed our patients’ expectations, eligibility of an online video consultation is at the discretion of the practice to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. In general, patients seeking an online video consultation should

  • Be between the ages of 14 and 30 years of age
  • Be in good health
  • Have recent panorex X-rays
  • Have a reliable, high-speed internet connection

If you are interested in an online video consultation for wisdom teeth removal, please call our office and ask the front desk.

Sedation for Wisdom Teeth Removal

Oral surgeons receive specialized training in the administration of all forms of anesthesia. We offer a few choices for anesthesia to help patients feel comfortable during their procedure:

  • Local Anesthesia – Typically used in simple dental procedures, local anesthesia numbs the surgical area so the patient can avoid any pain or discomfort.
  • Nitrous Oxide – More commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is usually used in combination with local or IV anesthesia to calm patients’ nerves before treatment.
  • IV Sedation – IV sedation puts patients into a sleep-like state, unable to feel pain. Patients will wake up once the procedure is completed.

Your oral surgeon will discuss all of your options for sedation with you at your consultation appointment, and we will choose the one that you are most comfortable with.

Wisdom Teeth Removal Procedure

When you come in for your wisdom teeth removal, we will answer all of your questions and ensure you feel prepared and comfortable before beginning the procedure. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, your surgeon will make incisions where necessary to remove the third molars. In some cases, he will need to remove bone blocking the path of removal or break the teeth into smaller pieces to make for an easier removal process.

"I came to see Dr. Lesneski to have him extract my daughter's wisdom teeth. It is very nervous anytime your child's put under, as a mom, no matter how old they are. Allie was coming home from college and having it done over Christmas break. I was still nervous as a mom; no matter how old your child is, they're still your child. I will say that Dr. Lesneski and his staff put me at ease. They let me stay with her as long as I needed. I really felt like the process was very quick, and for me, it was pretty painless. The staff was great as far as setting up the appointment (making sure she could do it when she was home for Christmas break), call-backs, setting up the appointments—they all were really great to work with. I really felt like him calling to check on her—I mean, he called, he checked on her after the surgery to make sure she was okay. He called the next day. He personally called, not a staff member. Who would you want to do your kid's surgery? Somebody like that."

"I needed my wisdom teeth out. I was a little nervous at first, but everyone made me feel very comfortable. I had it done super early, so no one was there, it was just people working, and they just were like, "Hi! How are you? You'll be fine, don't worry," and they were just very nice and smiling. It made me feel like I was in good hands. Well, when Dr. Lesneski came in, he was like, "It'll be okay. You'll be fine." I thought it'd be really long and I'd remember a lot of it, but I didn't remember a lot, and it went by like a blink of an eye. It was an overall good experience to have nice people get me feeling comfortable, and I had a good procedure. So, if any of my friends or family needed their wisdom teeth taken out in Flint, Fenton, or Saginaw, I would highly recommend Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons."

"Why I came to see Dr. Frey was because I needed my wisdom teeth out. I was in pain—I was having a lot of pain in the back of my mouth. I went to the dentist, and they said that my teeth were coming in wrong, and then from there, they took me right to Dr. Frey. I never had any type of surgery before, so when they said that it was a type of surgery, I was kind of freaking out. But when I knew I was coming here and everything, it was fine. It was quick, easy. It was no pain at all after. I was fine—he took care of me. The staff here is really nice; they're friendly. Dr. Frey—he's a great guy. He can make you smile if you're nervous or anything before. He's there to take care of you. I recommend Dr. Frey and their team to anyone that's nervous or needing to get something done."

"I came to Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons upon a referral from my kids' dentist, Dr. Steve Taft in Flint, Michigan, for their wisdom teeth removal. Yeah, this was their first surgery, so it was kind of nerve-racking as a mom to have your kids go through any type of surgery, but it was their first surgery. Dr. Frey was very easy to make an appointment for a consultation and then subsequently to schedule the surgical appointment. They were very friendly. After the surgery, everything was fine. We never had any complications — no bleeding, hardly any pain. Something that was really close to my heart was that Dr. Frey personally called every night for each of the kids to ask how they were doing, if they were having any pain, if there was anything he could do for them. Staff's very nice, very friendly, very comfortable to talk to. Dr. Frey is probably the most kind doctor or dentist that I've ever known. You can talk very easily to him. He relates to the kids very well. Absolutely, I think it's probably the best place to get your wisdom teeth out and any type of oral surgery in the area."

"When we first walked through the door, we felt comfortable in such a nice environment. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and they made us feel at home. Dr. Kittle is very comfortable to talk to. Easy to ask questions. Cameron’s surgery went well, and it was just overall a great experience. For my friends and family in Lapeer, I highly recommend Dr. Kittle."
